Japanese Designs  – Komon is a style of Japanese kimonos, unlike the Furisode worn by young Japanese women for special events and the Tomesode worn by married women for occasions, the Komon is an informal kimono used for daily use.

Komon which means “small design” is typically far from it, it can be pattern dyed or even hand-drawn but has a dyed design all over it. They can have large or small imagery in a repetitive design stenciled, printed, painted, woven, or striped.

The komon can be seen as a fashionable dress, great for a party, movie or to meet friends but not suitable for a formal event. If the fabric and style are suitable they can be made to look semi-formal with a good quality obi - Japanese belt.
